Sonic the Hedgehog: 4 Episode II is an episodic, non-sequential video game series in the Sonic franchise, and its sequel to the first game of the series, Sonic the Hedgehog. The games are set in modern times, twenty years after the events of Sonic and Knuckles, when Sonic is a married man, living with his wife. He has a son named Tails who accompanies him around. The episodes are divided into four main parts: Sonic the Hunk, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic & Chaotix, and Sonic & Knuckles (again). The episodes were released in order of the game's release date, which is April 1999 for the first game and June 2020 for the second one. The first episode, Sonic & Knuckles, was also released as part of the Complete Collection. Since the first episode was so successful, all subsequent episodes have been released in chronological order, from the first to the fifth.
In modern times, Sonic's world has undergone several major transformations. He used to be an ordinary hedgehog, but because he was once a member of Dr. Eggman's scientific team, he is now called Metal Sonic. He is given a powerful new ability that allows him to control metal objects. He also gains the ability to change his appearance and even transform into a huge robot. Because of this change, Sonic is now the hero of the Sonic & Knuckles series as well as the mascot for Sony Pictures Online Entertainment, a company owned by the company Sony Computer Entertainment America. There is even a special game entitled the "Sonic and Knuckles: Adventure" on the PlayStation 2 console that contains both Sonic and Knuckles as playable characters.
